Reflections of the Season

We, at the Goebel Team hope you had a blessed and beautiful Thanksgiving Day.  We hope you enjoyed a wonderful meal with friends and family.  We hope you reflected on your many blessings and gave thanks in your own special way.  As we enter this 2016 Holiday Season, let us not only give thanks for the year behind us but also for all that lies ahead.  I personally, as assistant to Mick and Jane Goebel, would like to take this opportunity to give thanks for them.  Mick and Jane are not only a wonderful couple, but also wonderful friends, as well as incredible people to work for.  I am thankful to not only call them my bosses, but to call them my friends.  I have been so blessed to be a part of this office and specifically, a part of The Goebel Team.  And I know that Mick and Jane are also thankful for 2016.  It has been a year of change for them in adding me to the team and it has also been a year of growth which I know they are grateful for.  They have had new clients which have turned in to new friends.  They have had joyous times, both professionally and personally.  Their hard work this year has paid off in many ways.  We are a team of professionals that work hard to help others with one of the biggest decisions in their lives; buying or selling their home.  I know that Mick and Jane Goebel take that responsibility seriously and are very conscious of what it means to the clients they work with.  As we come to the end of 2016 and look ahead to the new year, may we all give thanks for the many blessings in our lives; our friends and family, and all those in our work place, including co-workers as well as clients.  May this Holiday Season be a very special time for all of you and may the coming year be filled with all your hopes and dreams for the future!   God Bless you all and thank you for being a part of our lives!

Veterans Day 2016

In Honor of Veteran’s Day

Mick and Jane Goebel, along with Tina Edmonds, of the Goebel Team located in Murphy, NC, would like to take this opportunity to say “Thank You” and to Honor to all those who served honorably in the military - in wartime or peacetime.

In fact, Veterans Day is largely intended to thank LIVING veterans for their service, to acknowledge that their contributions to our national security are appreciated, and to underscore the fact that all those who served - not only those who died - have sacrificed and done their duty. --http://www.va.gov/opa/vetsday/vetday_faq.asp

We would also like to give some interesting facts about Veterans Day.

Veterans Day Frequently Asked Questions

Which is the correct spelling of Veterans Day?
Veterans Day –
Veterans Day does not include an apostrophe but does include an "s" at the end of "veterans" because it is not a day that "belongs" to veterans, it is a day for honoring all veterans.

Why are poppies used for Veterans Day?
The red remembrance poppy has become a familiar emblem of Remembrance Day due to the poem In Flanders Fields. These poppies bloomed across some of the worst battlefields of Flanders in World War I; their brilliant red color became a symbol for the blood spilled in the war.

Veterans Day VS Other Holidays
Like Memorial Day, Veterans Day also honors war veterans; however, the distinguishing difference between the two holidays is that Veteran’s Day celebrates all veterans – living or dead. Memorial Day is reserved to honor and pay respects to the military lives that have been lost. Veterans Day is celebrated on November 11th each year.
Unlike Memorial Day and Independence Day, Veterans Day is a relatively new holiday. Originally called Armistice or Truce Day, this day got its name upon the conclusion of World War I. Following subsequent wars, Congress was pressured by a group of veteran supporters to change the name of Armistice Day to Veterans Day. In 1954, Congress passed Public Law 380 proclaiming Veterans Day a public holiday. While there were a few date changes along the way, November 11th is still the date we honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve.

An Easy Way to Honor Veterans

On any of these given holidays, it’s easy to honor our current servicemen and women and veterans in a variety of ways. One of the easiest things you can do (and could potentially be extremely beneficial) to a veteran and/or spouse of a veteran is to inform them of the veterans Aid and Attendance pension benefit that can help them pay for the cost of care. Please refer them to www.VeteranAid.org or have them call (866) 913-2555. So many veterans are missing out on thousands of dollars to help them pay for costs of care. Please help us spread the word of the Aid and Attendance benefit.

Ways to express your appreciation!

  • ·         Show Up - Attend a Veterans Day event in your area
  • ·         Donate - There are many wonderful organizations you could choose from
  • ·         Fly a flag – correctly - Check out Military.com's guide to the flag
  • ·         Ask someone about their service - It seems like we all know someone who has served and Veterans Day is a great time to ask them about their service. Some questions to get started are: What did you do in the military? How long did you serve? What was your favorite moment in all your time in the service? Did anyone else in your family serve? Why did you choose to go into the service branch you did?

So, on this Veterans Day, November 11, 2016, we say
Thank you for your service and may God Bless You!
